General Secretary’s Note

Chaudhry Rahmat Ali Memorial Trust was established in 1976 under Trust Act 1882 by Dr S M K Wasti and few likeminded philanthropists to establish a comprehensive healthcare facility and Schools to provide two most important services to the neighboring community. Leading civil society philanthropists served as Trustees, Chairman and General Secretary during last 48 years of its existence. The trust has accumulated a commendable legacy of services during its existence to the underprivilege and vulnerable segments of the society.
As on today, Chaudhry Rahmat Ali Memorial Trust is managing five institutions rendering medical service and education services to thousands of community members on regular basis. The operating model has been on cost recovery basis, raising funds and spending to the welfare of patients and students.

The Trust Hospital has undertaken numerous steps during last two years to improve the capacity and capability of the organization to realize maximum potential of exisitng facilities. Master plan for the hospital is being reviewed with the help of highly acclaimed architects to prepare a revised Master Plan to add more beds, Operation Theaters, diagnostic facilities and allied medical services to provide wide scoped medical services to the community in the years ahead.

Schools’ infrastructure has undergone major repairs and maintenance, A special focus has been given to improve academic quality by enhanced academic calendar follow up, teachers’ capacity building and improved supervision by school management. Schools were encouraged to undertake more non-academic activities to complement the academic work and take advantage of purpose-built spacious school campuses and lush green huge play grounds.

Existing Board of Trustees are conscious of the fact that a gigantic process re-engineering and change management is vital to fully realize the potential of the Trust Hospital and Schools, aligning the organization with cotemporary style, structure and practices of social enterprises to take past legacy to the next higher level.
Contribution and support of Friends and supporters of Chaudhry Rahmat Ali Memorial Trust has always been a source of strength and courage in the past. Continuation of this support and contribution is now required more than ever to redefine, improve and expand our medical and education services with maximum financial benefits to the masses of the community.
